About Us:

Teamsters Local 251 is comprised of over 5800 men and women working throughout Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts in almost every occupation and industry. We are construction workers, freight drivers, heath care givers, package delivery drivers, lumber yard drivers and helpers, liquor distributor drivers and warehousemen, and factory workers. We work at some of the area's best known employers - UPS, Rhode Island Hospital, ABF, JT's Lumber and McLaughlin and Moran.

Wherever we work, we fight for better wages and working conditions - issues like health care, workplace safety, fighting discrimination. We are proud to say that we're not afraid to stand up for what we believe. Teamsters Local 251 is led by Secretary-Treasurer and Principal Executive Officer Joseph J. Bairos.

What We Do:

With 15 committed staff, including six full-time business agents, Local 251 has one of New England's most active union organizing teams. Currently the Local 251 team is in the process of organizing campaigns at companies like Stericycle and Gold Medal. We are excited to have recently organized First Student Mechanics and Allied Aviation.

We represent bargaining units from two workers to over two thousand! And we help our membership beyond the workplace - in the community, school and political activities - wherever our members are best served. You've seen us at the State House, dozens of charitable events and of course, on the picket line.
