About Us:

Teamster Local 1150 represents approximately 3500 members employed by Sikorsky Aircraft in Alabama, Connecticut and Florida. As craftspeople, our members build, repair and overhaul commercial and military helicopters that have been used in wide variety of industrial, war and lifesaving applications. Teamsters Local 1150 was chartered as a craft union on January 16, 1963. We do not have a general charter and are limited to exclusively our craft. These two features: interstate membership and focus on one industry limits our direct organizing efforts to only our industry but creates a very unique role in the political, craft membership and demographic arena.

What We Do:

In the labor movement, Teamsters Local 1150 is a member of the Fairfield County Labor Council and has supported a variety of initiatives, drives and rallies sponsored by fellow Teamster Locals, other trade and service unions and other Central Labor Councils. Additionally, Local 1150 is the only labor organization to be a member of the Corporate Volunteer Council, a locally-sponsored United Way initiative that was selected to host an advanced seminar at last year's national Points of Light conference in Las Vegas.

Besides our member's individual commitments to community service and the labor movement, Teamster Local 1150 conducts an annual food drive, an annual toy drive, supports the Connecticut State Special Olympics Summer games, Hartford Connecticut's Symphony on Ice, St. Vincent's Medical Association Swim Across the Sound, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) food drive, and membership drives for the Teamsters National Black Caucus and International Teamsters Women's Caucus. Last year, Teamsters Local 1150 established and co-sponsored the Walk to Prevent Women's Cancers which raised over $ 70,000; established a Teamster's Local 1150 Scholarship fund and received a Outstanding Labor Recognition award for participation by the United Way of Eastern Fairfield County.
