About Us:

Teamsters Local 597 was first chartered by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters in 1939. Since that time, Local 597 has grown and currently represents over 900 members working for more than 21 companies throughout Vermont. Local 597 has 2 full-time Business Agents to protect the rights of our membership in the workplace. This is the 61st Anniversary of Teamsters Local 597 fighting for the rights of working people.

Teamsters Local 597 is led by Secretary-Treasurer Ron Rabideau. Brother Rabideau was appointed Secretary-Treasurer in June 1993 and since June 1987 had served as Business Agent. Prior to becoming an officer, he had been employed by Roadway Express since November 1978.

Elected Business Agent in January 1997, Duane Messier was employed by Consolidated Freightways from 1980–1997 and St. Johnsbury Trucking from 1978–1980. Office Manager Linda Couture joined our staff in May 1997.
