Campers Have a "Beach Day" Thanks to Teamsters and Area Businesses
Workers Enjoy New Contracts and Join Union with Local 633's Support
At Local 633's Annual "Beach Day," the campers of Camp Allen once again had a great time. Camp Allen is a camp for the severely disabled, where campers are allowed to enjoy the summertime fun that they may otherwise not be able to experience.
This year Secretary/Treasurer David W. Laughton and the administrators of Camp Allen schedule a day at the beach, a tradition for over thirty years. This year there was a record number of volunteers, Local 633 members who volunteered their time, as well as outstanding support from employers whose employees belong to Local 633.
Among the generous roster of supporters is Associated Grocers, who donated groceries for the cookout, transportation for all of the donated food items, and an extremely generous $6,000 check for Camp Allen.
First Student Inc. donated the buses and the drivers volunteered their time. Hostess Brands donated the rolls and snack cakes. Pepsi Bottling Group and Coca Cola of Northern New England provided the soft drinks and water that kept everyone well hydrated for the daylong beach cookout.
