Teamsters Local 633 Sweeps New Hampshire

After a weeklong sprint that included five elections covering sixteen different bargaining units, Teamsters Local 633 went undefeated.  All of the mechanics, dispatchers and clerks throughout all of the New Hampshire based First Student locations that are represented by Local 633 are now joining the ranks and have become among the areas newest Teamsters.

David W. Laughton, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 633, said, "We are thrilled to now have wall to wall Teamster representation in these locations throughout New Hampshire.  We will now look to provide the top notch representation and contract protections that all of our Local 633 First Student members enjoy."

Most of these new Teamsters have not had a wage increase in three years and with the current management directives to cut out all bonuses and significantly reduce benefits, which sent them looking for job security and the protection of a strong Teamster contract, Teamsters Local 633 was ready to spring into action.

Local 633 Project Organizer Robin Loder stated, "We covered a lot of territory during this election and in the process, made strong enduring relationships--certainly people we can now consider as friends.  This group has already started spreading the word regarding the feelings of security being a part of the 1.4 million member Teamster Family."

Because of the number of locations and wide geography that these elections covered, it required a completely cooperative effort between the Local Union and Joint Council Organizers.

Joint Council 10 Organizer Roger Travers said, " This election shows how, with a smooth transition through information sharing and cooperation from multiple agencies, we can make significant inroads in our Organizing campaigns This truly is not possible without the commitment of unity and solidarity from these brave men and women.  Joint Council 10 is always willing to help improve the lives of working families in New Hampshire and throughout New England."

Teamsters Local 633 represents four thousand working families.
