Worker Health & Wellness Tip: Reporting Health Hazards in Your Workplace

Employers, employees, or their union representatives can request a Health Hazard Evaluation if they have concerns about health hazards at work. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health responds to requests by investigating whether a health hazard to employees caused by exposure to hazardous materials or conditions exist.

Teamsters Frustrated with Town of Plaistow's Lack of Involvement in Police Department Negotiations
From Local 633

In March of 2009, Teamster negotiators urged Plaistow Town Manager Sean Fitzgerald to begin collective bargaining negotiations with the local police department. It took seven months for Fitzgerald to arrive at the negotiating table. When he did, he was "dreadfully unprepared," said Teamster Lead Negotiator Jeff Padellaro.

The situation has dragged on ever since and, with the old contract set to expire in April, no new contract has been agreed to.

  • 63 New Members Join Teamsters Local 597

    Student Berlin Vermont (Hub #1792) won a 41-6 Election Day vote to unionize. There are now 63 new members at Teamsters Local 597. (Congratulations!) Here is part of the crew from Election Day:
