First Student Employees Overwhelmingly Choose Teamsters Local 633
On April 17th the organizing team of Teamsters Local 633 joined forces with the First Student Organizing Committee to have a “cookout day” to celebrate the election.
Joint Council 10 Organizer Roger Travers stated, “These men and women have worked long and hard to get involved in the Teamsters Union movement sweeping across this Country, and we are glad to have helped them along the way.”
The day of the election was the first true Spring-like day that this area of the Country has enjoyed, after a very severe winter. Temperatures went well past the seventy-degree mark, and everyone enjoyed the music provided by the powerful sound system that is mounted on Teamster Joint Council 10’s truck.
David W. Laughton, Secretary/Treasurer of Local 633 said, “We welcome these newest Teamsters to the Local 633 family. We are excited to have the opportunity to work for them, to help them achieve what we have been successful in achieving for almost five hundred (500) other First Student members throughout New Hampshire, and thousands more all over New England.”
A demand to begin negotiations has been issued, and a contract proposal meeting is currently being scheduled.
