Teamsters Local 633 Fights To Have Voices of New Members Heard

"Local 633 will not stand by and let this anti – union employer take away their voice.”
- Secretary/Treasurer David W Laughton

The National Labor Relations Board ruled against Student Transportation of America (STA)  in their quest to set aside a Union organizing election.

At the end of 2008 the employees of Student Transportation of America (STA) voted overwhelmingly to join Teamsters Local 633.  “These men and women braved power outages and blizzard conditions to show up and cast their vote for a better way of life by becoming a Teamster, and Local 633 would not stand by and let this anti – union employer take away that voice.” Said Secretary/Treasurer David W Laughton.

“The employees have had to endure a blistering attack from this employer, we are currently pursuing multiple unfair labor practice charges before the National  Labor Relations Board because certain members of management have targeted the union supporters for discipline and in some cases termination.  This will not stand.” Stated Business Agent Jeff Padellaro.

"“We stood shoulder to shoulder with these people to support their efforts to join the Teamsters. "
- Roger Travers, JC 10 Organizer

Roger Travers, Joint Council 10 Organizer recalled the fierce battle that this Company put forth, to prevent the employees from exercising their constitutional rights.  “We stood shoulder to shoulder with these people to support their efforts to join the Teamsters.  In all my years as a Organizer, I cannot believe how these long term employees have been treated, just for voting Yes.  We have and will continue to support them in their fight for justice, and we will not rest until those members of management who would reek havoc against another human being are addressed.” Stated Travers.

The most recent ruling from the National Labor Relations Board confirms the results of the election, and as such, certifies that Teamsters Local 633 formally represents these employees.  “ It is my best guess that the Company will continue to attempt to stall this process by appealing yet again, but make no mistake Teamster Local 633 is not going away.  I call on STA to come to the bargaining table, stop their campaign of intimidation and get a contract in place so that we can move forward in a cooperative manner.”  Said Secretary/Treasurer David W Laughton.

Local 633 has filed multiple unfair labor practice charges against this Company for threatening, intimidating and attempting  to coerce employees.  Previously Local 633 issued a call to the Town fathers of Londonderry to investigate the practices of the Company that transports the children of Londonderry.  As of the writing of this article, there has been no response from the Town, Administration, or the Superintendent’s office.

Teamsters Local 633 represents four thousand members throughout New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont and Rhode Island.
