Secretary-Treasurer Welcomes Web Visitors

MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARY-TREASURER

Welcome to the new and very much improved web site for Teamsters Joint Council 10 New England.

For current Teamster Members and friends, this web site will become a valuable 2-way communication tool that will allow us to better serve Teamsters and their families.

For workers and family members in New England who do not know about the Teamsters, in general, and Joint Council 10 and its affiliated Local Unions, in particular, this web site is a way to introduce you to who we are and what we do for our Members, their families and our communities.

For the public at large, the term “Teamsters” is synonymous with truck drivers and, perhaps, to some, synonymous with the “Men and Women in Brown” - our Brothers and Sisters who are employed by United Parcel Service.  While Teamsters Joint Council 10 has a proud history of representing truck drivers and UPS workers, Teamsters Joint Council 10, through its affiliated Local Unions, represents men and women in many other fields, including public safety workers, librarians, highway department employees, public works employees, secretaries, bus drivers, brewery workers and factory workers.  The list of occupations covered by Teamster contracts goes on and on.

Through this web site, you will be able to link to many of the Teamster organizations that currently serve Teamster Members and their families.  For example, Joint Council 10, through its affiliated health and welfare funds, provides families with some of the best health insurance coverage offered in New England.  In order to help keep this insurance affordable, Joint Council 10 has created its own Pharmacy Benefit Management entity, Teamsters Rx, that maintains a 50,000 + retail pharmacy network and that operates its own mail-order pharmacy that is staffed by Teamsters and that provides convenient and cost-effective access to prescription drugs for Teamster Members and their families.

Teamsters Joint Council 10 is proud of its history of service to our Members and to our communities and, through this web site, we look forward to introducing ourselves to fellow workers who do not as of yet enjoy the benefits of Teamster membership.

Best Regards,

David W. Laughton
